JBI Libtrary

The JBI Library provides individuals who are blind, visually impaired, physically handicapped or reading disabled with books, magazines and special publications of Jewish and general interest in Audio, Large Print and Braille formats. The unique services provided by JBI, all of which are free of charge, enable over 35,000 children, adults and seniors – from New York to New Zealand, from Ft. Lauderdale to Moscow, from Tel Aviv to Buenos Aires – to participate fully in the life of their communities.

Our pilot program with PJ Library will enable families and loved ones of the blind and visually-impaired to be able to read books together. Patrons can order a print version of four wonderful books for families: The PeddlerHanukkah at Monica’sUntil the Blueberries Grow, and Jeremy's Dreidel. Each book will have a Braille transparency on each text page. Email our librarians or call (800) 433-1531 to order a DTB and a print/Braille book to enjoy for a month, and a Braille-only version is also available on demand.

Lack of Knowledge. Many people are not able to realize their maximum leisure func- tioning because they lack essential information. Knowledge of support services, such as modes of transportation, also may be necessary for them to participate in a particular recreational activity.
